'Pho in a Gas Station' by Chef Lance Avery
by dwolf
So just when I thought I’ve seen everything I am pleasantly surprised. I am currently stuck in Houston, near Hobby airport due to a huge blizzard in Chicago and freezing rain here. Surrounded by 40 dollar hotels is a Mobil gas station that has the most unique side restaurant: Vietnamese Noodle Shop. This reminds me of my other favorite gas station restaurant in Memphis, TN fresh sushi. Both of these concepts win by their originality alone. As for the pho itself? Not bad, definitely not the best I have ever had but the worst either. It did lack Thai basil but when you are stranded for two days without purpose, beggars can’t be choosers.
